Microsoft MCSA 70-762 Practice Test Questions - 70-762 VCE Exam | RealExamDumps.com

Quitting the five tech giants: Could you manage without Microsoft?

I'm not as brave as Ms. Hill. I'm not stopping any services. Instead, each day this week, I'm looking at one of the Big Five to let you know how far I think I could go in quitting (or how locked in I am).

MANAGING WITHOUT MICROSOFT
Kashmir initially thought she did better with Microsoft, but found she was surprised at the subtle places Microsoft tends to show up, usually in enterprise services and, of course, in everything powered by Azure.

As for me, I can't live without Internet Explorer.

You didn't even buy that for a moment, did you? Even if you didn't know I rely on Chrome, IE is obsolete. Edge is more functional, but really, why? So, despite Microsoft's absolute dominance in the 1990s, today's Microsoft's leadership in the browser world is minimal.

NetScout: DDos Attack Trends Report

The global cyber threat landscape continues to evolve, unleashing increasingly sophisticated and persistent attack techniques at internet scale. Today, attackers can release enormous terabit-per second-scale DDoS attacks.

The same is true of phones. I reviewed Windows Phone back in the day, and it was really nice. I actually liked much of it more than iOS, but it was an orphaned platform with virtually no app support. Now, it's pretty much gone.

I also used to rely on Outlook. Heck, I was the editor of OutlookPower Magazine. But now, I'm all Gmail, all the time.

But what about Office and Windows? To be honest, I don't use either like I used to. My main desktop used to be a Windows machine. But in 2013, I switched to using a Mac with Windows in a VM. Being on a Mac lets me run Mac, Windows, and Linux all on the same machine. It's nice.

But more to the point, since 2013, I've switched more and more of my work away from Windows. Now, I use Windows for two things: filing TurboTax Business (which doesn't have a Mac version) and testing Windows products and functionality in a VM. I do still spend a lot of time in Windows, but not as the foundation of my productivity.

Then, there's Office. I still use Word and Excel, although I'm using Google's apps more and more. Some of our clients prefer Word and Excel files, and there are just some things you can do in these apps you can't do in Google's web apps.

As for PowerPoint, that's absolutely mission critical. The service we use for our webcasts specifically ingests PowerPoint. Since I make a big part of my living doing those webcasts, PowerPoint needs to stay. Besides, I know PowerPoint really, really well. I have spent days, weeks, probably years inside PowerPoint.

I could, in theory and assuming the webcast service could use it, move to another slide-making program, but with all that experience and muscle memory power, what's the point?

Skype is an interesting Microsoft product. I don't use it all that much. Instead, I have a Zoom subscription. I've found Zoom to be more predictable in its behavior. But some conversations need to be on Skype, so while I could probably go months without using Skype, there will be those days when it's necessary.

Finally, there's Azure. I don't use Azure directly, but since Azure powers a lot of the web, it's entirely likely that something I use would use Azure.

COULD I QUIT MICROSOFT?
So, could I quit Microsoft? No. I need Windows and PowerPoint for work.

What about you? If you're among the 76.1 percent of desktop PC users that use either Windows 10 or Windows 7, you're probably not quitting Microsoft anytime soon. Microsoft's revenue for Office 365 keeps going up and up. If you do work on a computer, the odds are, you're still using Microsoft for something. Right? Let me know in the comments below. Could you manage without Microsoft?

Microsoft welcomes new partners as it launches Microsoft Quantum Network

Quantum computing is not necessarily the future of computing, but it's certainly a future and an important part of technological advancement. All of the big players from the world of technology are understandably eager to be at the forefront of what's happening, and Microsoft is no different.

This week, the company formally launched the Microsoft Quantum Network, a coalition of partners with a shared vision. The goal is "sharing knowledge and collaborating with the best quantum innovators" with a view to helping the progression of quantum computing.

  • The unique capabilities of quantum computing mean that it has the potential to be far more useful than conventional solutions, particularly when it comes to AI and modelling. The (not insignificant) aim of the Microsoft Quantum Network is to help develop the world’s first scalable quantum computer and quantum applications.

Speaking at Microsoft's inaugural Startup Summit, Todd Holmdahl, Corporate Vice President of the Azure Hardware Systems Group, said: "The Microsoft Quantum Network is our commitment to establishing the partnerships required to build the quantum workforce and the quantum economy. We believe both are vital to solving some of the world’s toughest problems.

Over on the Microsoft Quantum Network website, Microsoft explains that:

The Microsoft Quantum Network is a global community of individuals and organizations working with Microsoft to learn about, research, and launch quantum computing applications and hardware supported with access to the Quantum Development Kit, vital research and experts, exclusive access to Azure services, and workshops on quantum programming and algorithm development.

Microsoft had previously announced numerous partners it was working with on quantum computing projects, and with the official launch of the Microsoft Quantum Network two more have been welcomed to the fold. HQS Quantum Simulations -- specializing in quantum algorithms for predicting molecular properties for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries -- and Rahko --  a quantum machine–learning company -- join a wide range of existing partners who have an eye focused firmly on the future.

Microsoft MCSA 70-762 Exam Dumps, 70-762 Practice Test Questions | RealExamDumps.com

Microsoft has updated the My Office app and would like to remind users that there's a free, online version of the suite.

The purpose of the new Office app is to act as a hub for all things Office-y. Be it documents the user has recently worked on, or shortcuts to the Office apps themselves. And, oh, if you don't have that particular productivity app installed, the Office app will send you to where it can be downloaded or, significantly, off to the web version of Office.

While the previous "My Office" app had a definite whiff of 365 subscription about it, the new Progressive Web App (PWA) version makes the freebie incarnations of Word and its ilk easier to locate. And although that paid-for Office sub isn't required, you do, of course, need your own Microsoft account to access the goodies.

The new app has also received the snazzy new Office icons. Whoop Dee Doo.

While some customers are likely to never touch the app – there is this thing called the Taskbar in Windows 10 to which commonly used Office apps can be pinned – Windows Insider head honcho Brandon LeBlanc was quick to express his delight with the new hub.

Well, he would. It was, after all, flung out to Windows Insiders as a preview back in December and the feedback was that users found it handy for getting started with Office.

Once a user has been introduced to the free online versions of Word and its siblings, Microsoft is not shy about suggesting a closer look at Office 365.

Consumers aside, the Office app also has an eye on the enterprise. Admins can rebrand it, add third-party apps and plug in Microsoft Search.

The app is rolling out over the coming weeks as an update to My Office and will appear as one the Windows 10 pre-installed applications.

Microsoft adds a digital health feature to its Android launcher

Microsoft is adding its own digital health feature to its Android launcher app. While Google has added a similar feature to Android Pie, Microsoft’s Launcher will let any Android users access the ability to track how long apps are being used for. You can track screen time, app usage, and even the amount of times you’ve unlocked your phone. Microsoft Launcher is supported on Android 4.2 and above, so it opens the digital health feature up to a lot of Android users.

The latest 5.1 update to Microsoft Launcher also includes To-Do and Sticky Notes integration, allowing you to sync your tasks and notes from these apps. Microsoft is even adding in “Hey Cortana” support to launch the digital assistant from this Android launcher.

Microsoft has been consistently updating its Android launcher over the past year, helping the software giant embrace Android as the mobile version of Windows. Microsoft added in family-focused features earlier this year, and support for the Windows 10 Timeline feature that lets you resume apps and sites across devices. Microsoft Launcher 5.1 is available immediately as a beta version from the Google Play Store, and should be rolling out to all users in the coming weeks.
